Merch By Amazon | Monetize And Drive Traffic
Extra Monetization Secrets MBA
A lot of people don't know and more don't talk about this unique way to monetize your Merch shirt sales.
We have talked about using Social media, Facebook, Youtube etc.
If you blog or want to get into blogging that's another cool source. On more than one front.
Maybe you are starting to get the idea now.
Wordpress is extremely easy to build blogs and e-com sites.
With tons of free templates, and very easy to build tools and add-ons.
If you're wondering why I don't use that, I will explain in the article at some point.
Let's get into the monetization end of stuff, this is by the way just what I have learned till now, its a work in progress.
First Step
If you are not on Pinterest or Instagram or Youtube if that works for you, get there. Learn how to build your account up, and that will get traffic to your shirts.
Facebook groups, if you are in a niche you understand get in a group, like Golden Retrievers or such and gently work in your tshirts here and there.
Like Hey look at this cool Tee I saw on Amazon while browsing for...
Start a YEP, blog. It takes time, but, you can hook that to your social media accounts, to build traffic.
WordPress With Woo Commerce
With this setup, it's a win-win, a bit of work but it is effective if you have time.
You have your store setup and your blog on the same site, both are intertwined, it's an awesome one-two punch.
Wordpress is easy to configure and easy to build a site with the free and paid themes. Woo-commerce is a free plugin that gives your blog a store and its features, also easy to configure, with loads of tuts and youtube vids as well as documentation.
It's pretty easy to find cheap hosts to set up on.
What you need:
- Wordpress
- Hosting (Wordpress and Woo Commerce capable)
- Domain name
This can all be done pretty cheaply, just Google the terms and pick, you really don't need a lot of experience to do this stuff today.
Blogging
The blog or web site is slow, you will have to get a small education concerning SEO, don't worry it's not really as scary as it sounds.
Find the right keywords using keyword finders free and paid. look for low hanging fruit always, you will not compete against the big boys with the 1 million plus searches a day.
Keywords, look much lower in the pack, it will build its self in time and be very consistent.
If blogging, pick up a few tips on how to write etc, again youtube is your friend, as well as looking at how blogs, in general, are done.
PPC
I know I use this phrase a lot. That's because I really didn't understand the power of it, or how little it costs and what you get back. Until I actually went out on a limb and tried it.
Cost per acquisition is everything right, but there is a learning curve, look for all the info you can find, and go very slowly and low till you get the hang of it.
Don't do this too soon, if your not launching a full-fledged complete site there's no point. Plus understand the power of Keywords and how to write that copy. You can also source this part out.
In a blog situation, take a lot of time, build your article base and traffic organically and through your sm accounts
Monetize For Merch
Ok, so here we go now. This is actually easy there are a few things you can do here.
- Sign up for an Amazon Associates account ( This is like affiliate marketing)
**Because you are not selling the shirts, just getting a royalty from the designs, you are eligible to get a commission off of each sale of your shirts, if you are an Associate**
You can now not only get the royalty and commission, but all of this will also help you tier up and get more slots in Merch.
You can also sell shirts from other sellers, I can hear your wheels turning now.
Other Monetization Tips
If you are blogging or running your own e-com site, you can use affiliate marketing, add space and a lot of other add selling platforms out there.
You could in effect use all that space on the sidebars up and thereby possibly making an extra bit of side money, tastefully though.
If you are blogging, take a long while before you start that, build an audience first, but you could still fit your designs in here and there.
Use Printful, Printify something like that and sell your own, stuff outside of Merch, there is a huge range of POD products out there and the market is there.
Why Not Wordpress Free
Not to knock them, it is a good way to learn WordPress, but they will monetize your site, for themselves unless you upgrade, and I'm not sure how good that service is, I have never actually tried it.
Some platforms give you the option of adding certain things that could bring revenue in.
Try to choose one, if you go the free route that can give you that, and the chance to upgrade to paid. Of course, if you had to, you could copy the whole site or article base and take that with you to a more friendly platform.
Just make sure you do a redirect or such so it doesn't get penalized as duplicate content (Seo stuff that will affect your search engine rank)
I hope this gives you a few ideas on just how and what you can do to maximize your chances of earning some extra cash as a side hustle or even making it more of a full-time main hustle, depending on what you want out of things.
You can see the power of it and possibly get an idea on which platforms to choose from, there are a great many and again depends on what you want and where you want to take it.
