The Real Way To Success | Merch By Amazon

Getting  Success From Merch By Amazon

As we have talked about in past articles there are a lot of tricks to getting sales on MBA.

Tiering is a painful long drawn task, and you pretty much have to, unless your premo.

There is one guy like that who does t-shirts for a career or design on clothing. With around 50 designs makes a but load of dollars.

Its all volume for the rest of us, its hard most of the stuff you do doesn't sell, and there are a few tricks people are not very transparent about.

Well, let's blow that S@@T up today.

How To Really Tier Up | Merch By Amazon

Ok, so up to now we have told you what we know and how to get there.

Most of that is and always will be good. But in the past few days, I caught a bit of hidden info, that others have been exploiting and not sharing.

It wasn't so hidden, you just have to know where to look sometimes.

And guess, yes the people trying to sell you on the fact that they got where they did because they have the secrets, well you know the rest ...GURU

The true way, the way the GURUS do this, yes we have mentioned this in posts...PPC.

Some folks partially shared the knowledge, but you have as usual the need to see and read behind the curtains of non-transparency.

MBA | PPC

Let's take a look at this one, even though you have to read between the lines.

  • All Merch accounts have the ability to use PPC
  • This is through Amazon
  • Its a platform-specific pay per click program
  • You have to apply for it through the MBA platform (there is a walkthrough)
Please don't let this scare you, I knew about it but was afraid to try it, until recently I started to use it on FBA...

Guess what,, it's not scary, use common sense don't put a high spend on it, some 15 cents a click.. personally I think it can be much less, depends on what you want.

Is That It

No, the trick is, you get that shirt that has one sale, or maybe no sales but maybe a holiday shirt, like ST Patrick's day or Valentine's day. or there are a thousand of these ideas right.

You advertise it, maybe price it lower, try to get a review or two let it gain momentum, then raise the price. You can go up to $19.99 or more if you like.

Get that design out there on a PPC campaign at least 1 month, 2 months being better before the event. This will help get reviews hopefully too.

Once the shirt has a BSR seller rank, it is easier to sell, if it has reviews it will usually always sell.

After it has become a good seller you will recoup any ad spend you put out.

How Does That Help Tiering Up

That's the beauty right, you are selling your designs and as the sales pile up, you will tier up..right.

But you may need to scale, I have let the POD business become a good side hustle for me as of this writing. Filling slots is not that easy.

Outsource because to tier up you will need x amount of sales as well as keeping 80-90% of your slots full.

And only the items that sell stay forever, the rest get 180 days or poof.
Nothing is easy right.

Look For Evergreen

Though hitting the holidays such as
  • Christmas
  • Easter
  • Valentines day
  • Independence day
  • And soooo many more event days ( Earth day etc)
Can help, you are not assured to find sales there.

Look for designs that sell all year that seems to be working for me at this time, so far.

Evergreens can really be anything fishing, retirement, birthdays and anniversaries, grandpa and grandma designs, you name it the list goes on.

If you can hit a few out for holidays and try to cash in on the trends. So far I haven't had much luck with the holidays or trending stuff, but I still try ;

Keep Looking At Keywords

Do not forget even though you will get to PPC, that the keywords are as important as the design.

Those keywords will still help even with PPC.

Just today looking for a niche, I ran into several good search terms on the Amazon search bar, those are top keywords for me, as well as the google search bar.

Though Google and Bing keywords are not as good as they used to be, they are still ok, but there are several free and paid Keyword Search tools out there, use these if you feel it works for you.

Put The Work Into It

Keep going and keep putting the work in, become better at designing and better at knowing what sells, that I think works hand in hand, though I still don't know if it matters how good the design is or not.

There is always a lot of talk about the specifics, though believe me, nobody really has the true answer, its all well this works for me but...

And that's the point, it may work it may not.

What I do know is that there seems to be a lot of new designers, good and bad, that tier quickly these days, I can only believe that its due to AMS ads or PPC as it's normally called.

I am not going to say all the guys out there in Merch land are selling complete garbage, there may be a few, but most are just selling you what you could do yourself.

If it's easier then try some at least its pretty cheap, I hear $10 bucks a month for a lot of these things.

Why don't I do it, well as stated before I was burned pretty badly and am very gun shy when it comes to people that say they can Help you make x amount of bucks a year
or make your life easier, when they really don't know you...why would they care.

What they should say is, I will sell you what I know, it works or did work maybe it will for you too.

Or if you are too lazy to look for your own ideas I will sell you old washed out ones.

So before you spend, spend the time watching older youtube vids on the subject and read a lot.

There is a guy named Neil Lassen who I haven't mentioned because he sells a thing,  it may be worth a look, I won't pimp it, so look up his name, that may be the one thing I might say could help.

He was onto it at the start and actually rocked his ideas into a good business model, and though I don't know him personally, he seems ok.

Well, as usual, I wish you all the best and The Very Best in your business ventures
If you have any questions or just want to comment or add worth you know the drill
